This list is not all-inclusive and represents only the basic versions of each item. Some items such as weapons and scanners can have special modifications that can make them more effective in certain situations. If an item is damaged it loses some of it's overall effectiveness.
Weapon and armor tiers: Weapons get a double-bonus to attack a target that has armor of a lower tier and a double-penalty to attack a target that has armor of a higher tier. For example a tier 1 weapon attacking a tier 3 target would get a penalty of -4. Attacking a target with tier 0 armor, (like a simple animal or an unarmored person) would give a bonus of +2.
Armor tiers:
Tier 0: Basically no armor. Skin, glass, clothing and aluminum foil fall into this category.
Tier 1: Very basic armor. Some of the tougher animals have this. Also includes body armor, helmets and the like.
Tier 2: A solid stone wall or basic metal door has this armor. Ground vehicles and some aircraft use this armor.
Tier 3: Military grade armor for ground vehicles and aerospace craft. Non-military space-faring vessels also use this armor.
Tier 4: Corvette class military ships use this armor.
Tier 5: Battlecruiser class military ships use this armor.
Weapons
---Tier 0---
Fists: Close range. Killing blows require two crits.
Rock: Close range. Can be thrown at short-range.
---Tier 1---
Knife: A close-range weapon. Can be thrown at short-range.
Plasma-shot Pistol: A medium-range weapon. Gives an additional bonus on tier 0 armor. Ammo is in the form of a rechargeable battery that can hold up to 12 shots. Battery takes 1 hour to recharge.
Revolver: A medium-range weapon. Ammo is in the form of small rounds. Holds up to 6 shots. Reloading requires 1 round per bullet.
